Seward Park old-growth Douglas firs

Seward Park preserves one of the last stands of old-growth forest within Seattle city limits and contains very large Douglas firs and western redcedar that foresters estimate to be several hundred years old. The park's mature trees grow on a Lake Washington peninsula and are accessible via public trails that pass through the forest remnant. Seward Park's forest is repeatedly cited in city conservation discussions as an uncommon example of near-continuous canopy within municipal boundaries.
