Star of Hope Lodge

The Star of Hope Lodge, located in downtown Vinalhaven, Maine, is a historic building constructed in 1885 that showcases Second Empire architecture. Once a fraternal society hall for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, it features a striking mansard roof and ornate details, including a central turret and bracketed windows. The building served as a commercial space and meeting hall during Vinalhaven's economic peak, when granite was a key export. In the 1980s, it was restored by renowned artist Robert Indiana, who transformed it into an art gallery and studio. The lodge is now a significant cultural landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982, and continues to be a point of interest for visitors and researchers alike.
