Anchor Brewing Company (Potrero Hill historic brewery site)

Anchor Brewing Company was founded in San Francisco in 1896 and for many decades operated a landmark brewery and public demonstration facility at 1705 Mariposa Street in Potrero Hill. The brewery is widely credited with popularizing the modern craft-beer movement in the United States through its production of Anchor Steam and its revival under Fritz Maytag in the mid-20th century. The Potrero Hill facility became an industrial and culinary point of interest with regular public tours and historical interpretive material.
