Alexandrion (Litochoro)

The Alexandrion, located at the foot of Mount Olympus near the Temple of Zeus in Dion, is a cultural monument established in 1992 by Greek Macedonians living abroad. It serves as a hub for preserving Greek language and traditions, hosting exhibitions, seminars, concerts, and lectures. The U-shaped building features exhibits related to Alexander the Great, showcasing his life and campaigns with detailed maps and artworks, including a famous mosaic from Pompeii. This site not only symbolizes the connection of the diaspora with their homeland but also offers a unique opportunity for tourists and researchers to explore the rich history of Macedonia.
