Divine Lorraine Hotel (Lorraine Apartments)

Designed by Willis G. Hale and completed in 1894 as the Lorraine Apartments, the building later became known as the Divine Lorraine Hotel and is an early example of late-19th-century high-rise residential/hotel construction on North Broad Street. The structure's ornate terra-cotta facade and steel-frame construction reflect period building technologies and urban housing infrastructure. After decades of vacancy in the late 20th century, the building was renovated for modern mixed use while retaining its historic exterior.
