Atarim Square

Atarim Square, also known as Namir Square, is a notable public square in Tel Aviv, Israel, designed by architect Yaakov Rechter and exemplifying Brutalist architecture. Located near the beach, it connects to the promenade and major streets, making it a central hub for tourists. Originally established in the 1920s as temporary housing for Jewish refugees, the area underwent significant development in the 1960s to create a tourist center with shops, restaurants, and a marina. Inaugurated in 1975, the square thrived initially but faced decline due to crime and neglect. Despite attempts at renovation, it remains a site of historical interest, reflecting the challenges of urban development and community dynamics in Tel Aviv.
