Menkemaborg

Menkemaborg is a historic house museum located in Uithuizen, Netherlands, originally built in the 14th century and transformed in the 1700s. The mansion features beautifully decorated interiors with baroque ornaments, a four-poster bed draped in silk, and a collection of 17th and 18th-century furnishings. Visitors can explore the meticulously reconstructed gardens, which include a walled pleasure garden, a sundial garden, and a kitchen garden with ancient apple trees. The site offers a glimpse into the life of the Groningen aristocracy and is managed by the Stichting Museum Menkemaborg, with its collection primarily sourced from the region's historical borgs.
