The Arena (Ottawa)

The Arena, also known as Dey's Arena, was a historic ice hockey venue in Ottawa, Ontario, built in 1907 and opened in 1908. It served as the home of the Ottawa Hockey Club until 1923 and was notable for being Canada's largest arena at the time, with a capacity of 7,000 spectators. Located near the Rideau Canal, it hosted significant events including the 1910 and 1911 Stanley Cup challenges and the 1920 Stanley Cup Finals. The arena was not only a hub for hockey but also hosted figure skating championships and boxing matches. Its unique ice surface design featured curved ends, influencing future rink designs. The Arena was demolished in 1927 to make way for urban improvements, marking the end of an important chapter in Ottawa's sports history.
