Stonewall Inn

The Stonewall Inn, a bar in Greenwich Village, was the site of the June 28, 1969 Stonewall uprising, events widely credited with catalyzing the modern LGBTQ rights movement. In 2016 the site and surrounding area were designated the Stonewall National Monument, the first U.S. national monument dedicated to LGBTQ rights history. The Stonewall Inn continues to operate at the same address in Manhattan's West Village.
