Supreme Court of the United States

The Supreme Court Building at 1 First Street NE houses the highest federal court in the United States and has been the Court's home since the building opened in 1935. The Court is composed of nine justices who hear cases of national importance, and the building offers public access to oral arguments and tours when scheduled. Architect Cass Gilbert designed the neoclassical marble structure, which includes the Great Hall and ornate courtrooms.
