Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas (viral fire images)

Big Tex is the 55-foot-tall cowboy figure and longstanding mascot of the State Fair of Texas, first appearing at Fair Park in 1952. On October 19, 2013, Big Tex was destroyed by a fire during the State Fair; photographs and video of the burning statue were widely circulated online. A replacement Big Tex was later constructed and returned to its spot in Fair Park.
