Hospice Sainte-Cunégonde

Hospice Sainte-Cunégonde, established in 1889 in Montreal's Little Burgundy, served as an orphanage and nursing home run by the Grey Nuns. Originally located in the Brewster mansion, it moved to a dedicated building on Albert Street in 1896. The hospice was notable for its stone facade and timber interior. Tragically, on June 15, 1951, a devastating fire claimed the lives of 35 individuals, including six nuns, marking a significant event in the history of the community.
