Watergate break-in at the DNC headquarters

On June 17, 1972, five burglars were arrested inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters located in the Watergate office complex. The break-in and the Nixon administration's subsequent attempts to cover it up resulted in a major federal investigation, multiple convictions, and President Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974. The event is one of the most consequential political burglaries in U.S. history.
