The Printing House

The Printing House, a stunning example of Palladian architecture, is located within Trinity College Dublin and was built around 1734. Originally housing the Dublin University Press until 1976, this classical temple features a striking façade made of rusticated Portland stone and local limestone. It was likely designed by Richard Castle, marking his first solo commission, and showcases the early Georgian architectural style in Dublin. Visitors can admire its impressive portico and the historical significance of its construction, supported by a donation from Bishop John Sterne. In 2023, it was announced that the building will host the famous Book of Kells during renovations of the Old Library, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers alike.
