Eldridge Street Synagogue / Museum at Eldridge Street

The Eldridge Street Synagogue was completed in 1887 to serve Eastern European Jewish immigrants on the Lower East Side. The building fell into disrepair in the 20th century and underwent a major restoration and adaptive reuse, reopening as the Museum at Eldridge Street in 2007. The site interprets immigrant religious and cultural life and retains period architectural and decorative features from its original construction.
