The Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, originally known as the Philippine Plaza, is a historic luxury hotel located in Pasay, Metro Manila. Built during the martial law era under President Ferdinand Marcos, it was designed to impress international delegates attending the 1976 IMF and World Bank meetings. The hotel has undergone several management changes and renovations, including a rebranding to Sofitel in 2007. It features 609 guest rooms, two renowned restaurants, and a Grand Plaza Ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,400 guests. However, the hotel closed in July 2024 due to safety concerns, raising questions about its future and the fate of its employees.
