Innis Dye Works

The Innis Dye Works, a historic factory located in Poughkeepsie, New York, is an intriguing site for tourists and researchers alike. Built in 1880, this three-story structure showcases distinctive architectural features, including a projecting cornice and a triangular pediment. Originally established in the 1830s by Aaron Innis, the factory played a significant role in the dye industry before transitioning to other uses, including a piano hammer factory. Although it was nominated for the National Register of Historic Places, it remains unlisted due to owner objections. Today, the building has been repurposed into condominiums, blending its rich industrial history with modern living, making it a notable landmark near the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum.
