Tovrea Castle (Tovrea Carraro Castle)

Tovrea Castle is a distinctive castellated structure near Phoenix's airport built in 1928 and later surrounded by a large cactus and desert plant arboretum. The castle and grounds were restored by the City of Phoenix and opened for public tours and events; it is locally nicknamed the 'Wedding Cake' because of its tiered silhouette. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a visible landmark along East Van Buren Street.
