Most of the 'Las Vegas Strip' lies outside the City of Las Vegas

Contrary to common assumption, the majority of the Las Vegas Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard south of Sahara Avenue) is situated in unincorporated Clark County areas such as Paradise and Winchester rather than within the municipal boundaries of the City of Las Vegas. As a result, many famous Strip resorts use 'Las Vegas' in mailing addresses while being outside city limits. Las Vegas City Hall serves as the municipal government's seat for the city itself.
