The Menil Collection (private collection open to the public)

The Menil Collection displays the private art collection of John and Dominique de Menil across a campus of buildings in Houston and is known for its holdings of Surrealist and modern art alongside antiquities and Byzantine icons. The main Menil Collection building was designed by architect Renzo Piano and the museum offers free general admission to the public. The Menil campus includes converted residential houses and purpose-built galleries that together form a distinctive, intimate museum environment.
