Croatian House (Split)

The Croatian House, or Hrvatski dom, is a significant cultural institution located in Split, Croatia, recognized as a cultural good of the country. Established in 1908, it was designed by architect Kamilo Tončić-Sorinj in the Art Nouveau style and served as a hub for Croatian nationalist cultural, artistic, and sports societies during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The building hosted important events, including the First Dalmatian Art Exhibition, and was instrumental in the founding of notable sports clubs like HNK Hajduk. Over the years, it underwent various transformations, particularly after World War II, when it was renamed The Home of Youth. A major restoration project began in 2017, aiming to return the building to its original glory, with the facade completed in 2019. Today, it stands as a testament to Split's rich cultural heritage and continues to play a role in the city's artistic life.
