The Gum Wall is a long-standing accumulation of chewed gum adhered to the brick wall in Post Alley beside the Market Theater, originating in the early 1990s as a spontaneous practice by theatergoers and market visitors. The installation became a noted oddity near Pike Place Market; it was extensively cleaned in 2015 and subsequently recolonized by visitors' gum. The wall is located in a narrow alley that many first-time visitors overlook despite its proximity to major market attractions.
