Carlbrook

Carlbrook is a historic estate located in Halifax, Virginia, designed by architect Luther P. Hartsook and built between 1928 and 1930. This impressive 2+1⁄2-story stone house features a Classical Revival style with a hipped roof, Corinthian columns, and a sandstone arch. The estate includes an elaborate stone garage, a picturesque lake with a stone spillway, and several charming outbuildings. Notably, it served as the site of the therapeutic Carlbrook School from 2002 to 2015 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American architectural history.
