Hard Lodging

Hard Lodging is a historic house located in Union Bridge, Maryland, notable for its Pennsylvania German architectural style. Built in three stages, the house features a 2+1⁄2-story brick structure and a Federal-style main section. It overlooks the site of a former mill owned by Solomon Shepherd, the house's first owner. Although it is now a private residence and no longer owned by the Historical Society, Hard Lodging was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
