Le Château Apartments

Le Château Apartments, located at 1321 Sherbrooke Street West in the Golden Square Mile of Downtown Montreal, is a historic apartment building commissioned by Pamphile Réal Du Tremblay in the mid-1920s. Designed by the architectural firm Ross and Macdonald, the building features a striking facade of Tyndall limestone and a distinctive copper roof, reminiscent of French châteaux and Scottish fortified houses. With 136 apartments spanning 12 to 14 stories, it has housed notable residents, including the acclaimed author Mordecai Richler. The building's architectural details showcase Indiana Limestone, while its facade contains ancient fossils, adding a unique historical element to its grandeur.
