ALICO Building

The ALICO Building, standing at 282 feet, is the tallest building in Waco, Texas, and a significant historical landmark. Completed in 1910, it was originally built for the Amicable Life Insurance Company and was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River until 1912. This 22-story skyscraper survived the devastating 1953 Waco tornado with minimal damage and has undergone renovations, including the iconic neon 'ALICO' sign added in 1966. Recognized for its architectural significance, it was designated a historical landmark in 1982 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history and architecture.
