Tremont Temple (Frederick Douglass and abolitionist oratory)

Tremont Temple at 88 Tremont Street has long served as a public meeting hall and Baptist congregation in downtown Boston and hosted numerous 19th-century political and reform speakers. Frederick Douglass delivered abolitionist lectures and addresses at Tremont Temple during his visits to Boston, and the venue was used for anti-slavery meetings and public assemblies. The church/congregation has historical associations with integrated worship and civic engagement in Boston's reform movements.
