Robert Donnell House

The Robert Donnell House, located at 601 South Clinton Street in Athens, Alabama, is a historic structure built in 1840 by minister Robert Donnell. Initially serving as a family home, it transitioned to an educational role when purchased by Joshua P. Coman for the Athens Male College in 1869. The house later became part of the public school campus and is now associated with Athens Elementary School. Notable for its two-story frame construction and elegant double-height portico, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Alabama's educational and architectural history.
