Playland at the Beach (former Ocean Beach amusement area)

Playland at the Beach was a commercial amusement park and boardwalk that occupied a stretch of San Francisco's Ocean Beach shoreline from the early 20th century until it closed in 1972. The park included roller coasters, a funhouse, and a wooden pier; most structures were removed after closure and the site was redeveloped or absorbed into public beach and parking areas. The footprint of Playland is along the oceanfront near the present-day Beach Chalet and surrounding Great Highway frontage.
