Swanton Covered Railroad Bridge

The Swanton Covered Railroad Bridge, built in 1898 in Swanton, Vermont, was a historic covered bridge that spanned the Missisquoi River. Known for its unique combination of Pratt and Town trusses and a wooden deck system, the bridge measured 369 feet in length. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 but was destroyed by arson in 1987. Although no longer standing, the site is now part of a multi-use trail, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers exploring Vermont's rich transportation history.
