Novo Mesto Grammar School

Novo Mesto Grammar School, established in 1746 by Empress Maria Theresa, is the oldest and largest secondary school in Slovenia, located in the picturesque town of Novo Mesto. Initially run by Franciscans, the school transitioned to a state institution in 1870 and has since played a pivotal role in Slovenian culture and education. With around 900 students aged 15 to 19, it boasts a rich history of notable alumni, including writers, poets, mathematicians, and politicians. The school is tuition-free and features modern facilities, making it a significant educational landmark in the region.
