Custom House, Liverpool

The Custom House was a striking Neo-classical building in Liverpool, constructed in 1839 on the historic site of the Old Dock. It served as a hub for postal and customs services until it was partially destroyed during the Liverpool Blitz in World War II. Despite its historical significance and the protests for its preservation, the building was demolished in 1948, marking it as one of Liverpool's notable architectural losses. Today, the site is part of the vibrant Liverpool One shopping complex, blending history with modern commerce.
