Empie-Van Dyke House

The Empie-Van Dyke House, located at 403 Laurel Street in Newport, Arkansas, is a historic Queen Anne style home built in 1891. Notable for its asymmetrical design and a distinctive pyramidal tower, it stands as one of the earliest examples of this architectural style in the city. The house, constructed by local lumber businessman William B. Empie, has remarkably survived with little alteration and even withstood the devastating flood of 1927. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
