Katajanokka Casino

Katajanokka Casino is a historic restaurant and function venue located in the picturesque Katajanokka neighbourhood of Helsinki, Finland. Perched on a promontory by the marina, this building was designed by architect A. Nyberg and completed in 1913 for Russian imperial officers. It has a rich history, having been seized during the 1917 revolution and later becoming a popular venue for Finnish military organizations. The site is notable for its historical significance, including the tragic event where 15 Russian soldiers were executed nearby. After undergoing several restorations since World War II, the Casino retains much of its original fin-de-siècle charm, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
