Assassination of Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre

On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot by actor John Wilkes Booth while attending a performance at Ford's Theatre. Lincoln was carried across the street to the Petersen House, where he died the following morning. Ford's Theatre is preserved as a historic site and museum at the original location of the shooting.
