Electric Lady Studios

Electric Lady Studios was commissioned by Jimi Hendrix and opened in 1970 at 52 West 8th Street in Greenwich Village as a purpose-built recording studio. Hendrix conceived the space as a creative studio environment for recording artists, and it has remained an active, commercially operated studio for decades. The studio is noted for its long history of recordings by prominent musicians and for its role in New York's recording-industry heritage.
