Mount Airy, also known as Grove Farm, is a historic house in Sharpsburg, Maryland, showcasing a blend of Federal and Greek Revival architectural styles. Built around 1821, this 2+1⁄2-story Flemish bond brick house is notable for its role as a hospital for soldiers during the Civil War, particularly after the Battle of Antietam. The property features several structures, including a 1820s brick building, a late-19th-century barn, and a 1900 tenant house. A significant moment in history occurred here when President Abraham Lincoln and General George McClellan visited on October 3, 1862, an event captured by photographer Alexander Gardner. Mount Airy was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a valuable site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
