The Hermitage (Virginia Beach, Virginia)

The Hermitage, also known as Devereaux House, is a historic home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, built around 1700 with later expansions in 1820 and 1940. This Colonial-era frame dwelling features a unique blend of architectural styles and is accompanied by three antebellum outbuildings, making it a rare example of colonial architecture in the area. The property, which was a farm until the mid-1950s, is now part of the Thoroughgood neighborhood and includes a large subterranean brick cistern. The Hermitage was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history and development.
