Fannin Battleground State Historic Site

The Fannin Battleground State Historic Site, located east of Goliad in Texas, commemorates the pivotal Battle of Coleto Creek from the Texas Revolution, fought on March 19-20, 1836. This historic site honors Col. James W. Fannin and his Texian forces who, after being surrounded and outnumbered, surrendered to the Mexican Army led by General Jose de Urrea. Following their surrender, Fannin and his men were executed at Presidio La Bahia. Established in the early 20th century, the 14-acre site features a stone obelisk, interpretive exhibits, a group pavilion, and picnic areas, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history.
