Castellania (Valletta)

The Castellania, located in Valletta, Malta, is a historic Baroque building originally constructed between 1757 and 1760 by the Order of St. John. Once a courthouse and prison, it now serves as the headquarters for Malta's health ministry. Visitors can admire its ornate façade, featuring a stunning marble centerpiece, and explore the interior, which includes former court halls, a chapel, and a courtyard fountain. The building has a rich history, having housed the Magna Curia Castellania, Malta's supreme court, and has undergone various transformations over the centuries. Today, it also features shops on the ground floor and The Brucellosis Museum on the second floor, showcasing the legacy of Sir Themistocles Zammit's laboratory.
