Whitlockska samskolan

Whitlockska samskolan, located in Östermalm, Stockholm, was a pioneering private secondary school founded in 1878 by Anna Whitlock, a notable pedagogue and suffragette. Renowned for its innovative curriculum, it became one of Sweden's first co-educational schools, promoting science education for girls and social sciences for boys. The school, which operated without religious instruction, emphasized principles of freedom of religion. It was re-established as Stockholms nya samskola in 1893 and adopted its final name in 1905, before closing in 1978. Notable alumni include engineers Gunnar and Olof Ljungström, photographer Anna Riwkin-Brick, and journalist Ria Wägner.
