Jackie Gaughan and El Cortez

Jackie Gaughan purchased the El Cortez casino in 1963 and operated it for decades, becoming a prominent downtown Las Vegas casino owner. He owned multiple properties on Fremont Street and was influential in the downtown gaming community. Gaughan remained a notable local figure until his death in 2014.
