Pakhusgaarden

Pakhusgaarden is a historic Neoclassical building located at Sankt Peders Stræde 28 in the Latin Quarter of Copenhagen, Denmark. Constructed between 1797 and 1798, it was built for distiller Christen Johansen after the previous structure was destroyed in the 1795 Copenhagen Fire. The building has a rich history, surviving the British bombardment of 1807 and changing ownership multiple times, including notable residents such as literary historian Thomas H. Erslev and poet Christian Winther. In 1825, it housed an innovative oil mill that operated under a 10-year monopoly. The property has been recognized as a protected building since 1959, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Copenhagen's architectural and cultural heritage.
