Iolanthe, Gordon

Iolanthe is a heritage-listed former residence and post office located in Gordon, New South Wales, built in 1870. Known as the Gordon Post Office, it played a crucial role in the community from 1860 to 1894, serving as a vital communication hub for early settlers. The cottage, associated with pioneering families like the Pymbles and Edwards, reflects the historical development of the North Shore. It features a modest single-story brick structure with a verandah and is one of the few remaining original dwellings along the Pacific Highway. Iolanthe was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999, highlighting its significance in the region's history.
