McKinney Hall

McKinney Hall, located in Columbia, Missouri, is a historic two-story brick building that served as a vital cultural hub for the African American community during segregation. Built in 1917 by Frank McKinney, it featured a dance hall that hosted legendary jazz musicians like Count Basie and Bennie Moten. The building is part of Columbia's African American Heritage Trail and is near the historic Sharp End district. Recently acquired by the city for restoration, it aims to become a cultural landmark, potentially housing an African American history museum and a jazz performance venue.
