W.J. Hughes Business House

The W.J. Hughes Business House, also known as the C.J. Wilson Store, is a historic two-story red brick building located at 70 Ocoee Street in Cleveland, Tennessee. Built in the 1840s, it showcases architectural embellishments reflecting the civic pride of its early owners. The building features a distinctive cast-iron front added in the 1880s, with decorative elements such as limestone sills and a stamped tin cornice. Originally a retail store, it has served various purposes over the years, including a saloon and a dry goods store, before transitioning to a law office in the 1980s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, it represents the commercial history of Cleveland and is a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in local heritage.
