Great Branch Teacherage

The Great Branch Teacherage, located near Orangeburg, South Carolina, is a historic one-story building constructed between 1924 and 1925. It served as a teacher's residence for the Great Branch School, part of the Rosenwald school initiative aimed at improving education for African American children in the early 20th century. As the last surviving structure from the Great Branch School complex, which closed its doors in 1954, it offers a glimpse into the educational history of the region. The Teacherage was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, making it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers interested in African American history and education.
