Volunteer Park Water Tower observation deck

Volunteer Park's brick water tower was completed in 1906 as part of Seattle's early municipal water system and includes an interior stairway leading to a small stone observation deck. The deck provides 360-degree views of Capitol Hill, Lake Washington, and downtown Seattle but is reached only by climbing a narrow staircase and is open to the public only on limited, scheduled occasions or by appointment. Its tucked-away location amid park trees means many park visitors do not notice the tower's public access. The tower and deck are managed by Seattle Parks and Recreation.
