SXSW Interactive launched in Austin

SXSW Interactive began as a dedicated track of the South by Southwest festival in 1994 and was first held at venues around the Austin Convention Center. The Interactive track helped popularize technology-focused panels, startup pitching and digital culture gatherings that expanded into a major annual tech conference. Over the years it became a notable venue for product launches, keynote talks, and networking in the startup and tech communities. The Austin Convention Center was a primary host site for the event during its early years.
