Omni Parker House - origin of Boston cream pie and Parker House roll

The Parker House hotel at 60 School St opened in 1855 and is credited with inventing the Parker House roll, a folded, buttery roll first served at the hotel. The hotel's pastry chef, commonly cited as M. Sanzian, created what became known as the Boston cream pie at the Parker House in the mid-19th century; Boston cream pie was designated the official dessert of Massachusetts in 1996. The hotel has a long history of hosting literary and political figures.
